This Center Contracted with Social Services Agency specifically to reach the reentry population.
HAC serves all of Alameda County.
HAC provides:
Free legal assistance
A range of public benefits programs
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
Medi-Cal, CalWorks
Cal-Fresh (food stamps)
General Assistance (GA)
Cash Assistance Programs for Immigrants (CAPI).
Also provide informal advice and referrals for non-benefits related legal issues
All low-income residents of Alameda County are eligible for HACs services.
HAC represents individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including Cambodian refugees, previously incarcerated individuals, survivors of domestic violence and homeless veterans, and more.
Staff languages include Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Khmer, Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Russian, Portuguese, French and German.
For other languages, HAC has interpreters on call.
Staff are trained to be familiar with complicated issues around race, class, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity.
HAC has a zero tolerance policy for any kind of discrimination or bias.
